Tinctures & Glycerites

Tinctures are plants submerged into alcohol to extract their medicine. Alcohol extracts medicines from the plants that water cannot. The plant material is left in the alcohol for at least one moon cycle, generally two or three, depending on the plant’s energetics and alchemy.

Glycerites are plants extracted into what is called vegetable glycerine. Vegetable glycerine is a sweet syrupy mixture derived from plants. Wild Heart Medicinals’ glycerites are 100% organic and a great alternative for children or those who do not consume alcohol.

All medicines are wildcrafted deep in the mountains of Oregon and California, far from roads and civilization, in the spaces where the wild ones still roam, and the spirit of nature is fully intact. I have asked for permission to harvest these plants and leave offerings in exchange for bringing their medicine home.

I tincture in 80 proof alcohol within hours of harvest for the strongest medicine. All tinctures are kept in the dark in wooden shelving units with only the light of crystals that sit beside them that can get in.

All medicines are made in small batches with an awareness of the sacred reciprocity and balance of giving and receiving within Mother Nature.

I give thanks for these precious beings who enliven our bodies, minds, and spirits, who balance our inner waters and heal our ancient wounds; thank you plant kingdom for being a divine reflection and offering your medicine to us. We give thanks.
